Today, women of all ages are expected to be strong, independent, and meet society’s perception of beauty. Women are often told if they don’t act or look a certain way, they are “less than”. The Women’s groups are a safe place for women to come together in a safe, non-judgmental place to help women of all ages transform and find their own voice in today’s world.
Groups consist of six to eight women who are supported and challenged to explore their concerns. The counseling is solution-focused, so members can quickly and economically meet their individualized goals. Members are encouraged to support each other with their natural strengths and abilities.
This ongoing group is especially appropriate for adult children of alcoholics and/or women with problematic families-of-origin. The group will have an emphasis on rebuilding self-confidence, self-care, setting health boundaries, depression, and anxiety. Other topics will be added as needed and will be specific to the women in the group.
Find Your Voice – Young Women’s Group
This group will be a safe place for young women who are struggling with various mental health concerns or general life concerns who are looking for extra support and a safe place to talk to and feel supported by other like-minded young women. Learn ways of identifying and changing self-defeating behaviors and thoughts, developing self-esteem and self-confidence, and finding your own voice in today’s world.
Members must agree in advance to protect the confidentiality of other members, including what is discussed in group, as well as the identity of other participants. Other responsibilities to the group include being on time for sessions, participating in the group process, and giving two weeks notice before leaving the group.
The per-session fee is $100 with one uncharged absence every calendar quarter. Other absences are charged at the regular rate. Group members are responsible for their accounts and our office staff can assist in obtaining third-party payment when it is available.
There are two groups that meet weekly. Women Transformed meets on Tuesday evenings and the Find Your Voice group meets on Thursday evenings. Each new group member is required to go through a diagnostic assessment interview prior to admission to the group to determine fit. More than one individual therapy session may be necessary prior to group admission. Admission to a group is not guaranteed.
