Allyson is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor who holds a Master of Science degree in Co-Occurring Disorders Recovery Counseling from Metropolitan State University. She has been working in the helping profession for over 12 years in roles that supported people with serious and persistent mental illness, addiction, chronic homelessness, cognitive disabilities, autism and trauma.
Allyson has experience treating a wide variety of presenting problems such as anxiety, depression, Borderline Personality Disorder, and addiction. She specializes in supporting those who have experienced trauma and women coping with pregnancy and postpartum concerns. She admires the resiliency of her clients and helps them recognize this resilience and build upon their strengths to cope with their symptoms. She strives to encourage autonomy and empowerment within her clients and does so by utilizing the principles of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Narrative Therapy. Allyson believes the most significant change can happen when a safe and trusting relationship is developed between client and clinician. She fosters this relationship by utilizing a non-judgmental, collaborative and authentic approach.
Allyson recognizes that it can feel incredibly scary and vulnerable to reach out and say “I need help.” She assures her clients that they are not alone in these feelings and seeking help is one of the strongest and bravest things a person can do.
